How To Export Results Using a Settings File

Overview

When exporting a survey several times SurveyToGo will allow you to save the export settings so you could reuse them again and again when exporting without the need to specify them again from scratch. The Settings file is an XML file that can be saved and loaded to the Export Wizard and it allows you to export the current results using settings you have previously defined. Another use of the settings file is the option to use it while generating automatic exports as well. Using a defined settings file may help you save precious time and efforts and ensure uniformity across the exported data sets.

  1. Step 1: Saving a settings file.
  2. Step 2: Using an existing settings file.
  3. Step 3: Using an existing settings file while exporting with command line

Note: Please review the Export Results manual before going through the current manual: http://support.dooblo.net/entries/29087522-How-To-Export-Survey-Results

Step 1: Saving a settings file

To save a settings file you will need to open the Export Wizard of the relevant survey and define all the settings as how they are supposed to be exported. After defining the settings, press on “Export settings file…” choose the location and save it. That will produce an XML file that can be loaded in future exports.

Step 2: Using an existing settings file

To use an existing settings file, open the Export Wizard of the relevant survey and press on “Load Settings File…” which will allow you to load an XML file type. The XML file is a file with predefined settings of how the results are supposed to be exported. Once loading the file, all the settings of the current export will be defined automatically as the ones predefined in the XML file.

Step 3: Using an existing settings file while exporting with command line

To use an existing XML settings file while exporting with a command line you will need first to create your command line as explained in the following manual: http://support.dooblo.net/entries/22388623-How-to-generate-automatic-exporting.

After creating the file, add the following line: /settingsPath=”<The path to the file\FILENAME.xml>”. Now you can generate results with the .bat file using an XML file.

That’s it
