How To add other specify in a grid question

Overview

In Grid type questions there is no option to add an ‘Other specify’ answer. This how-to will show you how to implement a work-around simulating the other specify answer in a grid type question.

For this example I am using a ‘ Single Choice Grid’ question.

Step 1:

For each topic add an answer of ‘Other’ as a regular answer.

Step 2:

Create an ‘Open Ended Grid’ question afterwards, containing the number of topics that are in the ‘Single Choice Grid’ question.

Step 3:

Write the following script in the Entrance Rule of the question from step 2 In order to enter this question only if the answer of ‘Other’ was chosen in one or more of the topics.

Step 4:

Write the following script in the Start Script of the question from step 2 In order to filter the topics and show only the topics that were coded with the answer of ‘Other’

That’s it!
